Marksmanship Team

Marksmanship training is available to all cadets; however, tryouts will determine the 188 Cobra Team to represent our unit.
Cadets have the opportunity to participate in a series of individual & team competitions at the local level that culminate in Provincial and National competitions.

Cadets participating in the Marksmanship program achieve the following:
-
learn about the safe handling of rifles,
-
build self-esteem,
-
practice focus/breathing,
-
engage in good sportsmanship,
-
develop greater self-discipline on top of improving marksmanship technical skills.
There is an emphasis on physical fitness as the team will be competing in the Prone and Stand Positions. Cadets use the "Daisy 853C" Air Rifle with a round aperture sight, that fires a 0.177 caliber pellet. Because of the low muzzle velocity, the Daisy 853C is not classified as a firearm under Federal Legislation.

Qualifications Awarded
Qualifications are based on shooting 10 pellets onto two targets for all levels. The 10 pellets are fired on the same relay. The highest qualification attained during the year is retained. For a Marksman qualification, a cadet must obtain two groupings of 3 cm on two targets. For example:
