188 Cobra Squadron was formed in 1942 under the command of Flight Lieutenant A. R. Cousins (all the way in Windsor, Ontario!).  The squadron was disbanded in 1946 following the end of World War II, but reformed on November 1, 1973 as 188 North York (Cobra) Squadron and has been a strong supporter of Toronto youth since then.

The original 188 Downsview Squadron, after years of parading at CFB Toronto (which is now largely Parc Downsview Park where you can find indoor beach volleyball, soccer, go-karting and more), continued its tradition of cooperation with the Toronto Military by moving into the new facilities at Denison Armoury where we are the the largest and most active cadet unit.

188 is also proud to continue it's partnership with the Canadian Forces College, our country's foremost educational institution for military leadership.

Since 1942, several thousands of young people have developed skills and values with 188 squadron that have benefited them and their communities.  We are proud to continue the tradition of providing the best possible training and experience to the young people of Toronto.
